Qualifications

Paul Vallance is an accredited Core Process Psychotherapist and has worked continuously in private practice since 2004. He trained at the Karuna Institute (www.karuna-institute.co.uk) and has an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy, awarded by Middlesex University. He is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (www.ukcp.org.uk) and is a member of the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists.

Professional background

Before training as a psychotherapist Paul worked for the NHS specialising in sexual health and mental health promotion, training health professionals and working with community groups.

In the 1980s, he worked as an advisor for the National AIDS Helpline, and as a live-in carer at a residential project for people living with AIDS. Before that he worked in publishing production.

He has conducted independent research for: the Healthcare Commission, the National Patient Safety Agency, the Central Office for Research Ethics, and the National Academy of Parenting Practitioners.

In 2006 he collaborated in the production of a book on hospice care 'Life in a Hospice', published by Radcliffe Publishing, which is now available as an e-book. For more information see www.lifeinahospice.com

Paul teaches psychotherapy students at the Karuna Institute and has worked for the Minster Centre, undertaking clinical assessments and advising students on counselling placements.

Personal

Paul has lived in London most of his life. He enjoys, gardening, writing and photography and shares these and other interests in his blog EMPTY MANDALA.
